How to use the PDF Metadata Viewer
- Drop a PDF.
- Review its properties and page sizes.
- Optionally download a copy with the document properties cleared.
Document properties can reveal an author’s name, the software used and when a file was made. Clearing removes the standard properties and the XMP metadata block. It does not remove text or comments on the pages, or other hidden content, so this is not a substitute for proper redaction. The file is processed in your browser and is not uploaded to our server.
Frequently asked questions
Does clearing make a document anonymous?
No. It removes document properties, not the content of pages or data hidden elsewhere in the file.
Can it read protected PDFs?
Not ones that need a password to open. Unlock them first, if you are authorised to.
