Image Metadata Viewer

View EXIF data such as camera, date and GPS location in your photos, and remove it without re-compressing.

Runs in your browser. Your input is processed on your device and is not uploaded to our server.

Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP imageOnly read on your device: metadata can reveal private information.

How to use the Image Metadata Viewer

  1. Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
  2. Review the metadata, and check for a GPS location.
  3. Download a copy with the metadata removed if you want to share it safely.

Photos can contain the camera model, the date and the exact GPS location where they were taken. Check before sharing them publicly, although many social networks strip this data. For JPEG and PNG, “Remove metadata” deletes the metadata blocks without re-compressing, so image quality does not change. It also removes any orientation tag, so a sideways-stored photo may need rotating afterwards. Your images are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to our server.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo sent anywhere?
No. The file is read only on your device, which matters because metadata can reveal where you live.
Does it remove everything?
It removes EXIF, XMP, IPTC and text blocks. The colour profile is kept in JPEG files so colours stay correct.
