How to use the Salary Calculator (CTC to In-Hand)

  1. Enter your annual CTC and the basic salary percentage from your offer letter.
  2. Choose the tax regime and adjust professional tax or other deductions.
  3. See the monthly in-hand salary and a breakdown of every component.

How CTC becomes take-home pay

Cost to company (CTC) includes amounts you never receive as salary: the employer’s PF contribution and gratuity. The calculator removes those first to get gross salary, then subtracts your own PF contribution, professional tax and estimated income tax (using the selected regime from the Income Tax Calculator rules) to get net pay.

  • Employer and employee PF: 12% of basic, optionally capped at the ₹15,000 wage ceiling.
  • Gratuity: 4.81% of basic (15/26 of monthly basic for each year of service).
  • Professional tax: varies by state; the default of ₹2,400 a year is common in several states.

Allowances, reimbursements, variable pay and exemptions such as HRA differ by employer, so treat the result as an estimate.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my in-hand salary so much lower than my CTC?
CTC includes employer PF and gratuity, which you do not receive monthly, and your take-home pay is further reduced by your own PF, professional tax and income tax.
Which tax regime should I choose?
The new regime has lower rates but few deductions; the old regime allows deductions such as 80C and HRA. Compare both in the Income Tax Calculator.
