What this tool can and cannot do
This tool removes a background of one colour, or a very similar shade, spreading from the image edges so that the same colour inside your subject is kept. It works well on logos, signatures, scanned stamps and products photographed on a plain backdrop.
It does not use AI and cannot cut people or objects out of busy photos. That needs a separate machine-learning service, which this site does not provide. Your images are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to our server.
Frequently asked questions
Can it remove the background from a portrait photo?
Only if the background is a plain colour that differs clearly from the person. It cannot separate a subject from a busy scene.
Why are there rough edges?
Raise the edge softness, or adjust the tolerance. Low-resolution or heavily compressed images have blurred edges.
