WebP is usually smaller than JPEG and PNG at similar quality and supports transparency, and all modern browsers display it. Your images are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to our server. Encoding depends on your browser: Safari cannot create WebP files, and if your browser cannot, the tool tells you instead of silently giving you a different format.

Why does it say my browser cannot create WebP?
Safari can display WebP but cannot encode it from a web page. Use Chrome, Edge or Firefox to convert to WebP.
Is transparency kept?
Yes for WebP and PNG. JPEG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white.
