Password Generator
Generate strong random passwords or passphrases with a cryptographically secure generator.
Runs in your browser. Your input is processed on your device and is not uploaded to our server.
How to use the Password Generator
- Choose the length and the character types, or switch to passphrase mode.
- Check the estimated strength (entropy in bits).
- Copy the password into your password manager.
Passwords are generated in your browser with crypto.getRandomValues and unbiased selection, and are never sent anywhere. Strength is shown as entropy: length × log₂(alphabet size). Aim for at least 80 bits for important accounts. Passphrases of five or more random words are easier to type and remember. Use a password manager and a different password for every site.
Frequently asked questions
Are the passwords stored?
No. They exist only on your screen until you copy them.
Why exclude ambiguous characters?
Characters like l, 1, I, O and 0 are easy to confuse when reading or typing a password by hand.
