How to use the Favicon Compatibility Tester

  1. Enter the website address.
  2. Click Test favicons.
  3. Review each icon’s status and size, and the compatibility checklist.

A robust setup includes /favicon.ico (crawlers and older browsers), an SVG icon, a 180×180 Apple touch icon, and a web app manifest with 192×192 and 512×512 icons. The tester reads the page’s <link> tags and the manifest and downloads each icon to check that it works.

Why does Google show the wrong icon?
