How to use the Heading Structure Analyzer

  1. Enter the page address.
  2. Click Analyze headings.
  3. Review the outline and the warnings.

Headings give a page its structure for readers, screen readers and search engines. Use one H1 for the page’s main topic, H2s for sections and H3s for subsections, without skipping levels. Choose heading levels for meaning, not for their font size.

Frequently asked questions

Can a page have more than one H1?
HTML allows it and Google says it can cope, but one clear H1 is simpler and better for accessibility.
