How to use the Image Alt-Text Audit
- Enter the page address.
- Click Audit images.
- Add alt text to meaningful images and alt="" to decorative ones.
Alt text describes an image for screen reader users and search engines, and appears when an image fails to load. A missing alt attribute is an accessibility problem. Decorative images should have an empty alt="" so screen readers skip them. Setting width and height prevents layout shift. Images added by JavaScript or CSS backgrounds are not seen by this tool.
