Quarter turns and flips move pixels without any loss before saving. Other angles require resampling, which softens the image slightly, and the canvas grows to fit the corners; the extra area can be transparent or a colour you choose. Your images are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to our server.

Why does my photo look rotated already?
Phones store orientation in metadata. Browsers apply it when reading the image, and the saved result is upright with no orientation tag.
