How to use the Marks and Percentage Calculator
- Enter each subject with marks obtained and maximum marks.
- Read the total, percentage and per-subject percentages.
- Set a target percentage to see how many more marks you need.
Overall percentage = total marks obtained ÷ total maximum marks × 100. This weights every subject by its maximum marks. Some boards calculate the percentage from the best five subjects; tick “Best N subjects” to do that.
Frequently asked questions
Is the average of subject percentages the same as the overall percentage?
Only when all subjects have the same maximum marks. Otherwise the overall percentage (total ÷ total) is the correct one.
